Parleh Media Launches Canada’s First Dedicated Sports Betting Networks

Parleh Media Group, the independent content and production company that operates sports betting-focused publication The Parleh, launched Parleh TV on October 12, describing it as the country’s first dedicated sports betting broadcast network.

The free online channel is now available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and gives Canadians access to a full slate of popular sports betting shows and segments including Puck Talks, The Parleh’s marquee hockey betting show, which will debut with insights and on-the-street segments for the seven Canadian NHL teams. Other programs include Parleh Today, Parleh Picks, Footy Talks, Five A Side, Fast Money EPL and Spreadzies.

“For anyone who’s been tracking sports betting endeavours in the US, you’ll know that established broadcast and startup media companies have been heavily investing in sports betting,” said Mark Silver, the founder and CEO of Parleh Media Group. “The acquisition of VSiN (the Vegas Stats and Information Network) by DraftKings earlier this year was like a shot across the bow for us, and accelerated our business plan.

“As much as Canada welcomes and adopts trends and pop culture from our neighbours to the south, our society continues to demonstrate that our values are diverse and tolerant, which is what makes us Canadian. That’s why at The Parleh we believe that Canadians deserve sports betting content that speaks to how we uniquely follow, cheer and win.”

Kevin Kennedy, President and Executive Producer of Parleh Media Group, added: “From NFL over/unders and weekly CFL winners to dark-horse picks for the Stanley Cup, The Parleh has taken the unknown out of sports betting and is making it fun and entertaining for the everyday sports fan. With the launch of Parleh TV, fans will get the straight goods presented in a fun and easily accessible manner. They won’t need to sift through reams of data and strategies to calculate the outcomes of a $5 bet.”

The Parleh TV experience will also be a go-to destination for brands looking to connect with engaged sports fans. The platform will feature integrated advertising and sponsorship opportunities allowing for impactful branded content. All commercial opportunities with Parleh Media Group are managed by sports media consultancy, ThePostGame, which work with a suite of Canadian- and US-based sports properties such as NBC Sports, USA Today Sports Media Group, FOX Sports, New York Jets, Canadian Premier League, and PGA Worldwide Exhibitions.

Spotlight on Toronto

On October 19, Parleh also announced it will be spotlighting Toronto, the biggest city in North America’s fifth-largest jurisdiction, with its own Parleh TV Toronto channel that it describes as the city’s first dedicated multi-sport news and information TV channel.

The 24/7 online channel was launched ahead of the start of the NBA’s regular season and the Toronto Raptors’ home opener against the Washington Wizards. Sports fans will have access to The Parleh’s popular picks segments and shows which follow the Raps, Leafs, TFC, Argos and major sports events and updates that appeal to the city’s passionate sports-following population.

The channel also offers integrated advertising and sponsorship opportunities for advertisers.

“We honestly couldn’t help ourselves when the idea was brought forth to create a first-of-its-kind multi-sport TV experience dedicated to sports fans in Toronto,” said Kennedy. “If you want hot tips on tonight’s Leafs’ game or wonder if the Raps will hit the Over, Parleh TV Toronto has got you covered.”

Parleh says it will continue to launch new shows and segment formats in the weeks and months ahead. Announcements related to distribution of the channel beyond the Parleh TV website will be communicated as agreements are made with partners.
