Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries appoints Gerry Sul as new President & CEO

Sul recently served the roles in an acting capacity

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries has announced the appointment of Gerry Sul as permanent President and CEO, following a seven-month interim period.

Sul began serving as President and CEO in an acting capacity in January after the departure of Manny Atwal, taking the position up while still Executive Vice President of Gaming and Entertainment.

His time at Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries commenced back in December 2012 when he joined as Vice President of Facilities and Central Services before becoming Vice President of Corporate Services in 2017, while his latest stint as Acting President and CEO was the second time he had taken up the reins on a temporary basis.

He is also Board Chair of the Western Canada Lotteries Corporation and a Board Member with Interprovincial Lotteries Corporation.

Sul said: “I am honoured to have been appointed to lead Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. I look forward to working with our board and employees to continue to offer Manitobans great service and experiences, while increasing our impact in supporting important programs and initiatives that benefit our province.”

Prior to his time at Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, Sul gained more than 20 years’ experience working in the private sector for a large publicly traded agri-business company, managing systems development and providing project management services for critical and complex corporate initiatives.

Announced last Friday, Sul’s position as President and CEO actually became permanent effective last Wednesday, July 5.

“We are very pleased to welcome Gerry Sul as the new President & CEO,” said Manitova Liquor and Lottery Board Chair Bonnie Mitchelson. “Gerry is an experienced leader with extensive knowledge about our lines of business.

“He is trusted and respected by employees throughout the corporation, and under his leadership, Manitobans can expect to see continued innovation and sound financial governance.”
