Woodbine was recently named alongside Ontario Place and Exhibition Place as one of the favoured hosts for a new casino in an online poll conducted by the Canadian Gaming Association. In a follow-up telephone call for Woodbine, 51% of the 500 respondents said they'd prefer the Etobicoke location.

Bill Rutsey, CGA's Chief Executive Office, also spoke to the possibility of a new casino at Woodbine. “There aren’t a lot of companies that are capable of delivering that kind of full, grand, entertainment product,” he said, adding Woodbine did not currently have “all the pieces” to accommodate such a project.

Extolling the strengths of the Woodbine facility, Eaves added: “One of the great benefits we have is complete flexibility...We own 680 acres of land. It is an existing racing and gaming operation and we are equipped to respond in whatever way we and OLG think best meets the market demand.”
