Great Canadian Gaming Reopens Casino New Brunswick On October 23
October 22, 2020
Great Canadian Gaming Corporation announced on October 22 that Casino New Brunswick will be reopening at 10 a.m. AST on Friday, October 23, 2020, as a result of the New Brunswick provincial government's announcement allowing the reopening of certain businesses.
The New Brunswick provincial government had previously mandated that certain businesses, such as casinos, must temporarily suspend operations on October 9, 2020 as part of the effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. After just two weeks, that order has been lifted in some earas of the province.
Moncton, where Casino New Brunswick is located, is in Zone 1, which returns to the "Yellow" level as of midnight on October 22. The government explains that recommendation was made by Public Health based upon a "consistent downward trend" in the number of cases and a "significant decline" in the risk of further infections.
Great Canadian says it remains committed to providing a safe environment for both its guests and team members, and as such, Casino New Brunswick will be reopening with the significant and comprehensive health and safety protocols it introduced as part of its first reopening on September 28, 2020.
Those new operational plans and protocols hinclude reduced facility guest capacity and slot machines, and the suspension of most amenities in an effort to follow physical distancing requirements issued by Public Health. Table games also remained unavailable and the hotel did nto reopen. Meanwhile, Plexiglass was installed throughout the casino and masks were mandatory for all staff and guests.
