It is important to note that GLI-11 v2.1 does not introduce technical requirements which will cause currently developed technologies to no longer comply. Instead this version is intended to supplement a number of requirements which may have been too prescriptive. Furthermore, emphasis has been placed on refining sections such as the revision history and submission requirements by making those items supplemental documents which will be available separately from the core technical standard. This has reduced the overall size of the document and clearly enhanced the usability of the standard.
In the next few weeks, GLI will be releasing an update to a number of other GLI Technical Standards to reflect items impacted within those standards by the changes made to GLI-11.
Each standard in the GLI Standard Series is a culmination of industry best-practices and is continually updated. In addition to assisting regulators, the standards are of tremendous value to suppliers who use the standards as a guide in their R&D process; saving time and expense. All standards are available for free download on the Standards page at www.gaminglabs.com.
