CGA releases 2010 Economic Impact of the Canadian Gaming Industry report

The Canadian Gaming Association has released its 2010 Economic Impact of the Canadian Gaming Industry report showcasing Canada's continued growth as a major player in the global gaming scene. 

Key findings of the report include:
 

 

 

 

 

  • Legalized gaming, at $16 billion, has almost tripled since 1995 ($6.4 billion gaming win
  • The Canadian Gaming Industry directly supports more than 128,000 full-time jobs
  • Government and charities are the largest benefactors of gaming activity profits, receiving nearly $8.7 million in 2010
  • Gaming industry outpaces the combined revenues generated by magazine and book sales,social establishments, spectators sports, movie theatres and the performing arts

“In the past 15 years we've seen tremendous investment across Canada to turn gaming facilities into entertainment destinations which generated not just economic benefits for the provinces, but employment opportunities as well,” said Bill Rutsey, President and CEO of the Canadian Gaming Association in the report.
