Advancing the Canadian gaming industry together
By Paul Burns, President and CEO, Canadian Gaming Association
The Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) is a not-for-profit organization that works to advance the evolution of Canada’s gaming industry. The association’s mandate is to promote the economic value of gaming in Canada; use research, innovation, and best practices to help the industry advance; and create productive dialogue among stakeholders. Membership in the CGA continues to include all facets of the industry: facility owners and operators, Crown agencies, manufacturers, and suppliers of goods and services.
Since becoming President and CEO, I have been working to build a more inclusive and diverse membership in order to broaden the representation and recognize the different roles we all play. Providing an opportunity to create alliances within the Canadian gaming industry to focus collectively on issues that matter means that we can accomplish more together than we can alone.
The CGA Board (the Board) is also undergoing a renewal. Through discussions with stakeholders, members and potential members, a strong consensus emerged that the Board should be a place where representatives discuss matters of substance impacting the future of the industry, find agreement on major issues, and develop coordinated responses to potential threats.
